Landscape horticulturists identify, grow, and maintain plants, and manage injured and diseased trees and plants. They create and change landscapes by measuring, designing, and interpreting plans. Sometimes they build walls, patios, walkways, and water features. They might work in gardens, city parks, golf courses, schools, and anywhere else where green things grow.
With this project, you will become a landscape horticulturist for your local fairies— designing and building a garden just for them. A garden full of fairies is a happy place indeed!

Procedure
-
Assemble your materials, (or open your kit from the Learnary and take a close look at the elements included). Make sure you have space to get a bit messy!
-
If you are building your garden indoors, you can use your box as the tray. If you want to build outside, choose your spot now.
-
Using the graph paper, sketch your ideas for how you’d like your garden to look. You can try sketching different ideas before you decide on which one to build. The piece of burlap will be your ground cover, so make sure your garden will fit on it—either in the box or in the spot you’ve chosen outside.
-
Lay the burlap piece inside your box, or on the outside spot you have chosen.
-
Based on your design sketch, start building your garden!
-
When you’re all done, don’t forget to invite the fairies to come visit. You could write a letter or make a sign letting them know they’re welcome.
